Having trouble letting go?

One of my favorite herbs to work with when you’re having trouble finding the bright spots among the stressors of life or allowing yourself to be “good enough” rather than perfect is Blue Vervain.

Blue Vervain helps shift your awareness to the present moment and let go of the stress that isn’t serving you. It helps you find grace for yourself when you’re pushing yourself too hard and can’t seem to see the progress you’ve made.

Because this herb is so bitter, it’s a perfect candidate for tincturing!

Other Benefits of Blue Vervain

Blue Vervain has many benefits along with stress relief. Listed below are some of its helpful herby actions:

  • Stress Relief: Blue Vervain helps the body switch from “Fight or Flight” into “Rest and Digest” by engaging the parasympathetic nervous system when the sympathetic nervous system is in overdrive.

  • Muscle Relaxation: Blue Vervain acts as a mild sedative, allowing tense muscles to relax and tension to be released. It’s amazing for tension headaches as well, particularly when combined with Skullcap or Wood Betony.

  • Cooling: Blue Vervain is a cooling herb, which helps the body release the tense heat associated with anger, anxiety, and overwhelm.

  • Digestive Support: As a bitter herb, Blue Vervain helps stimulate the secretion of bile and digestive juices, helping fight the upset stomach that can come with stress.

  • Period Support: Blue Vervain can help bring on a late or stagnant period.
